Hi dff & welcome. Re the leg waxing, I bought an epliator & use that 'all over'   , including bikini line & under arms - cost me about £35 so would pay for itself in a few months, also you can use when you feel like it. I got it from Boots on a triple points day
.

Blimey Ali, my eyes are watering!. If I did that, the cost of the painkillers would offset any savings!;)Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0

Glass of wine about 1/2 hour before works a treat. Actually, you get used to it after a little while.... as long as you don't get overgrown.
oooohhhh too much information.

If you are trying to pay debts with APRs of 30% or more, no wonder you can't keep up with it. If you are going to have any chance of paying anything off, you have to try to shift those to a lower interest rate - £18 for a leg wax is small beer compared to the monthly interest you are paying on those debts. Does your OH have a decent credit rating - even if he won't contribute more to the budget, is there any chance of him getting credit at a sensible cost for you to pay off.0

hi
I haven't been here for long myself, but wanted to say hello
I've got personal experience of this sort of thing, and I know that it's impossible to reason with someone with substance addiction, so I do appreciate you need to do what you can on your own. However, I think you CAN make good inroads on your own. Can you go through these CCCS people (not had dealings with them myself, but they sound good) - then you could pay off what you can afford, a bit at a time. I imagine the interest is mounting horrifically.
The other thing I was going to say is, get some help for yourself if you haven't already. It's so hard living with someone with an addiction. Sorry if you already know, but there's support groups for family and friends of people with various addictions (Al Anon - not AA - for alcohol, not sure of the other names), where you'll meet other people dealing with similar issues, and can find a bit of peace.
I'm not sure how these things work, so don't know if you'll manage it in 22 months, but I think you WILL manage it. Keep coming back here, will keep an eye out for your thread. Good luck!

By the way, why are you paying for life insurance for both of you? I don't think you have any dependants? so the insurance on your life is to make sure that the mortgage is paid off if you died ... being harsh, what benefit is that to you?? I'd be tempted to just pay for his life insurance, and let him worry about whether or not your life is insured, which would free up £30 per month for your debts.0

Hi there. This is my first post but I should go and introduce myself elsewhere on the board I guess.
I agree with tyllwyd, with the caveat that I do not understand your situation nor why your SO would refuse to help you get debt free. There are all sorts of other issues there that I don't claim to understand. However...
With no dependants and an attitude like that, your life does not need covering; you just need to cover his so that you are OK should the worst happen. Also, be very careful if there is any possiblity that he could run up debts that could be (or become) joint debts and take a view on the equity in the house you have.
Just $0.02 from a voice of experience.

i dont want to put any kind of dampner on the situation but regarding the life insurance... say the worst was to happen to your OH as a result of his substance abuse... does the insurance pay out for that kind of thing?0
