Electricity account in joint names

Slightly off-topic but beware of British Gas.
We had our boiler maintenance with them in my wife's name, then changed energy suppliers to BG - in my name.
The result was that it wouldn't accept two names with the same email address (we have a joint email) and I couldn't access my online account.
It took them 8 months to resolve it - and then only by me changing to a different email address.
Cannot believe that such a simple IT problem could not be resolved.
Dreadful experience

I don't see why not.
I've had no trouble adding my name to my Fathers' name with Anglian Water.
Nor did I have any trouble getting my name on His house Insurance.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

A tip if you are with either gmail or hotmail/outlook (possibly other providers but these are the two I know) you can add a '+' to the first part of the address and it will still be delivered to you. For example:
yourname@gmail.com can be yourname+boiler@gmail.com and yourname+energy@gmail.com and they will all get delivered to the same place. Some companies have badly written software that gets confused by + signs in addresses, but with gmail (and possibly others) you can add dots that get ignored by your provider, but appear different to others, so your.name@gmail.com yournam.e@gmail.com and y.ourname@gmail.com are all the same.
Means you can use multiple addresses but only have to manage one. Also, if spam starts arriving, it's easier to see who sold your details.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
