What do you need explained?

If you are a Nationwide account holder you can refer anyone who isn't. They will need to switch their current account to Nationwide, which must have two active direct debits, and you will both get £100. After your friend you can then refer your granny, your aunt, your cousin, your workmate etc. Every person who successfully opens an account and qualifies will gain you another £100 - up to five per tax year.

That's a slightly simplified version - make sure you follow the terms and conditions and you will be fine. Many people dont want to give up their main account and switch a secondary account, either an existing one or one they have opened specially for that.

It's an incentive from Nationwide for existing customers to recommend a friend. If you recommend a friend and they open an account, there is a £100 "thank you" for you for referring them, and £100 "thank you" for them for joining Nationwide. Simples really!
