Melia Hotels - Amazon Gift Certificate?

I booked direct with Melia hotels this week for a stay in Benidorm in mid May.
Today I got an email from Melia saying the booking had qualified me for a £50 Amazon gift certificate, which I would be sent after my stay.
No mention of this during the online booking process so I'm wondering, is it a scam, or has anyone else had this email after booking direct with Melia Hotels?

What sort of scam do you think it might be? Either you'll get an Amazon voucher or you won't, but either way you'll get the hotel that you've paid for.0

There have been scams offering gift vouchers for various different supermarkets in the last few months...I thought this could be one of those whereby you click on the link and let a virus or malware onto your computer0 -
If they send you an Amazon giftcard it will most likely just be a code that you enter on Amazon's website. There will be no need to click any links.0

Melia do have a rewards scheme partnership with Amazon. Just check if you need to join their loyalty scheme to receive it.

Hi there, very interesting to read this post.
I booked online in march when they had an offer on with a £50 Amazon voucher.
It's now been almost 10 weeks since I returned from my stay and after many emails and phone calls, I'm being told that melia have a problem with their account with amazon.
I today spent a lengthy amount of time on the phone to melia and demanded that I either receive my voucher or a £50 refund to my payment card, only to be told to call back in two days time. I've explained to them that as a valued customer, they should be updating me as I'm fed up of chasing them and getting no further forward.
I asked many times to speak to a manager or be put through to someone that can give me answers but I was told it was impossible to be put through to a manager and they can't give me details to speak with a manger. I asked to speak to the ladies boss but she said she had many. I've asked for a recording of the phone call as I shall take this further but when I stated that the call would be recorded, she answered may be.
Seems to me like that they are more than aware they have a problem here, and I'm certain it won't just be us with the issue. Their lack of customer service skills is dreadful, and they clearly have no loyalty to their customers. Let's get this sorted!0 -

I got the same response as you, Gasmanzs.
I have the email address of the Melia CEO and I'm going to contact him now. He's always been very good at responding personally.
Would you like the address? If a few of us contact him, he might take some action.0 -
I contacted them a couple of times too.
Yesterday we were thinking of doing an Amazon order and said that we thought we would never get the voucher when 5 minutes later we received an email from Melia saying they had added 17,000 points to our account to use for the voucher. You then use these points to purchase the voucher, but I don't think you can use the points for anything else. Eventually we got an email with the Amazon code.0 -
Do they have a Twitter page? A lot of people recommend that tweeting issues on company pages often gets a quick response. Keep it polite and factual of course.0

Thanks Daisey and Martin.
I will have a look for their twitter or Facebook page.0
