Apparently I am in lake Atitlan, wherever that is
Edit, it's in Guatemala apparently0 -
I connect to my router by cable as my PC definitely does not have wi-fi. So are you saying that Google gets my browser to interrogate my router?
Did you delete you cookies/cache first? If not, Google could have stored your location there.
Otherwise, it shouldn't be that accurate. Sometimes I appear in a local town (~5 miles away), other times its over 15 miles away. Wireless devices tend to be more accurate for the reasons given above.0 -
The website "Where Am I Right Now" says:
... a Web App which detect your location (latitude and longitude) and displays it on Google Maps.
Built Using HTML 5 / W3C Geolocation API and Google Maps API.
How to Use?
Just open this web, and this web will automatically detects your location. Make sure you click Allow (in Chrome) or Share Location (in Firefox). This apps will try to detects your location using any means accessible. Could be GPS, Cellphone triangulation, Wifi, Router, or at worst IP Address. You can see your location on Maps above, and related location information next to it.
It actually gives me a blank pane!0 -

Sorry Gloom. Does not work for me. Says I'm 481 miles away, which is the location of some BT site. Do you by any chance reside close to your ISP?0 -

Hi John, Blank pane here as well, but I was using Internet Exploder and not Chrome or Firefox. Obviously not as cunning as Mr Google. lol.0 -
