Carpetright warranty

I purchased a carpet in march 2015 on 0% 2year interest free credit, after consulting there sales guy & explaining I lived on my own with my dog I needed a good quality carpet hard wearing measuring 8.9mtr x 4mtr wide. I had them fit it with new underlay the complete job, now after 18months use it's started to delaminate were I walk across it in my slipper to gain access to the lounge. I made a complaint to the store I brought it from who sent out a fitter to re-stretch it, he spent 2 hours trying to fix it & in the end cut it to short so there is now a gap to the boarding & still the lifting of the carpet in the middle of the room, the fitter rang the shop & told them it was faulty & he could do nothing with it.
The store explained to me that they would raise a warranty claim with the manufacturer furlong who intern sent out an independent company to report on this.
The report states that yes the carpet has delaminated but not at the edges or on the stairs or landing thus they say it's not a manufacturing fault but down to domestic use, carpetright have said they will have nothing to do with it now.
My question is my claim should be with the shop not manufacturer under the sale of goods act 1979, carpetrights own website states that most carpets are guaranteed up to 5 years for normal domestic use.
Please can anyone advise me on how I proceed with this as I feel spending £1000 on carpet that's now faulty after 18months of being down is surely not fit for purpose.
I'm a 53 year old man at work all day & with a dog that's only in the house 5 hours a day I don't see how that constitutes abnormal domestic use.

There are a few of causes of delamination, the main ones are excess ware, manufactureing fault and excess moisture.
Yes your rights are with carpetright not the manufacturer however it is for you to prove a fault so in order to claim your rights under the sale of good act (or the consumer rights act depending on the actual date of purchace) as it is over 6 months after the sale you will need to provide carpetright with an indepandant report claiming the delamination is caused by an inherent manufactureing fault ruther then the other 2 causes.
Out of intreast what carpet/underlay combination did you purchace0 -
Thanks for the feedback I'm looking in to getting my own independent report done as soon as possible.
The carpet I brought was sandham made by a company called Furlong down in Kent area & I had a thicker underlay as recommended by Carpetright0
