But this is because low skilled manual traditional 'male' work has been lost to globalisation meaning young men without qualifications (and don't forget men underperform women in education) now end up in low paid services jobs.
Even in manufacturing low skilled workers can learn a trade over time. At least there was progression in the past. Now there's nowhere to progress. When the consumer bubble finally bursts. Where are all those unskilled retail workers going to find employment?0 -

I think you'd really have to do some proper research into the options available locally to students. The modern halls are a totally different ball game to those in my day; I think current students would be horrified to hear that we had to walk down a corridor to take a shower in a shared bathroom. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
I find it hard to believe students would relocate to study at any of the 3 Liverpool unis and live somewhere that means 20 mins public transport everyday or 30+ minutes walk each way. If you're going to live away from home you're going to want to be within easy walking distance
The night bus on the way back is quite an experience0 -
On my list of experiences I'd like to avoid, a night bus ride in Liverpool would be near the top.0

It's not really like a London night bus, and the city is tiny in comparison. It's a good place, a cracking night out. I've returned on business quite a few times and like what they've done with the city centre.
We even went there on a cruise once!0 -
I bought a house like this on this road new when I was 27. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-57272518.html This one is with two agents so likely overpriced.
Finances were very, very tight. No holidays, no eating out, second hand carpets and furniture, baby belling cooker. Deposit saved by living in a bedsit.0 -
It's nuts isn't it what you can get up north compared to London. Where I am that would be 800k at least. With what our Zone 2 flat is worth we could buy a palace in that neck of the woods. Gotta keep trying to convince the Mrs to get the heck out!0
