Can I get money back from Virgin Media(home line)?

Problem is this -
About 4 weeks ago I noticed that my phone would stop working - no dial tone, for anything from 2 to 4 hours per day. It could be longer but if I'm not around to check then????? Also line is coming up busy and calls not being diverted to voicemail.

I phoned help and they tested line from their end with no problems so they sent an engineer out on the following Saturday - he tested my line and played around with the connections on the boxes and also my box on the wall. He said he couldn't see anything but I have 3 phones - all corded and the problem affects all of them at the same time so it's not a phone problem. He went away and said to call if it happens again - which it did within hours of him going. He also didn't fasten the cover back on the box outside so I found it in the road the next day:mad: with all wires exposed!!! So I rang up straight away and Virgin agreed to send out another engineer for the following Saturday - no-one shows and when I call they say that he's been - Despite me getting up to let him in from 8.00 am onwards!!! I've rescheduled and there's finally one coming this coming Saturday - has to be a weekend because of work etc. I intend to ring in the morning to check that there is one coming this time!

Anyway - to the crux of the matter: Can I get any money back as I haven't been able to get full use of my phone for nearly a month now, and how would I go about getting it? Would I be better writing or just talking to billing???

TIA

Better talking to billing, writing letters to communication providers is useless imo. At least the person at the end of the phone can action something there & then instead of waiting on Royal Mail to deliver the news! :)
  • Phone has completely died now so I can't even ring them - Aaargh - I think the rain has shorted out the exposed wires. I tried to call them but on an 0845 number via my mobile - they advised at least a 10 minute wait so I won't bother - if the guy doesn't show on Saturday - I'll just move to BT for my line and do the sky package deal thing - so Virgin will lose the internet as well - just !!!!ed off with them now!
