Most good quality TFTs come with a 3 year warranty, if in doubt, check before you buy.0

You won't get a hernia shifting an lcd display, the same cannot be said about a larger CRT, especially if it was a trinitron 19" type that mine was. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
-
You should have seen my 24" Apple CRT back in the early 90s, took two people to lift, and required the deepest desk in the World!0

I have a 21":D Sony crt on my desktop and an lcd on my laptop. Cant say I realy have noticed much difference in quality, although the size difference does make a difference, especially when playing fp and and driving games. If you just want a total imersion in gaming experience buy a new tv and plug your PC straight into it. With full surround sound and a realy large screen you will be totaly overwhealmed.
Size definately does matter, So my missus says.To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
whilst were on this could someone tell me why their nearly all "widescreen" now- if the comp feed is 4.3 wont it just stretch the picture?0
-
The computer feed isn't 4:3 specifically, you pick a resolution to suit you monitor. If you have a reasonably modern Graphics card it will have widescreen resolutions as well as 4:3 resolutions. You may have issues with some old games that don't have widescreen resolutions though, but you can often run these in a window to get round it.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I think CRT is better quality but TFT is easier to work with - as in, less desk space. Stories of dead pixels etc etc are becoming rare and that is what a 12 month warranty is for.
Not true. There is a limit to the number of dead pixels below which it is not considered a fault. So you can get dead pixels and have to put up with it, especially once it is over 1 month old (statutory rights, etc.).
You need a very generous supplier to replace one if it is inside the industry spec. and develops faults later on. Very generous indeed.0 -
I think a good CRT gives better resolution than a TFT. However, I prefer TFT as an all round proposition.Happy chappy0

You're crazy if you buy old technology CRT in my opinion!0
