Bank of Scotland paid themselves my closure balance!?

Hi all,
Disclaimer before I start: I'm not really fussed about the amount here, it's more the principle.
I am switching my main account to Bank of Scotland to Tescos and since I was no longer going to use BOS, I wanted to close the account.
I phoned them up and the guy said I'd have to pop into branch, I said that was a bit difficult since I live in the south of England and BOS don't have any branches in England. He said ok, I'll send you an account closure pack (or something similar, I was under the impression I was being sent something I had to fill out and then send back).
The point I phoned him, I had emptied the account and put the money into my Tescos account. I did it mid month and forgot about the interest that would be accrued. I received the following letter today:
Letter from Halifax/BOS
I saw the amount wasn't zero and decided to look up the sort code as I'd assumed there was something set up for them to pay me any amount left over in the account to one of my many other accounts:
Sort Code Result
The result is not one of my accounts, it is in fact "THE DIRECT BUSINESS BANK, Bank of Scotland". To me, this looks like they've just taken the remaining money in my account and put it in their business bank account?

That's probably an internal account which they'll then issue a cheque from. Give it a week and I can almost guarantee that you'll have a cheque in the post.urs sinserly,

Ok, thanks for the info.0 -
They won't be paying for lavish hospitality, luxurious holidays or high class prostitutes with 98p.0

For next time: if you had done a proper switch, using the Current Account Switch Service, they would have transferred any remaining balance and interest to your new account.0

And BoS would have forwarded any further random payments to your new Tesco account for 3 years (soon to be extended?)0 -
