Hi all,
I'm trying to send a motherboard that I sold to Luxembourg, but the thing has a lithium (ion?) button battery in it. Parcel2Go (on behalf of DPD) have a tick box saying "any batteries in your parcel will cause the parcel to be rejected", which now has me worried.
Am I not allowed to send such a small battery contained within a piece of equipment on Airmail?
Thanks in advance for advice.

Is there a particular reason that the battery has to stay in the motherboard?Move along, nothing to see.0

I can't see that a datasheet for mail sent from Japan could possibly have any relevance as to the practices of DPS and Parcel2Go in the UK.
Even though certain batteries can be sent through the mail, there is nothing stopping any courier company from having stricter rules than those laid down in legislation and if DPD have decided not to allow any batteries in their shipments then this should be complied with or having the sender face the risk of having the package rejected.0 -
I suspect the ruling applies to laptops, tablets, phones etc. but to be safe either tell the buyer you've got to take it out or select a different courier. It may be they all do though for airmail.0

New restrictions came into force on the 1st Jan this year but I think you should be OK.
However, for the same of a button cell that cost pennies I'd remove it and simply tell the buyer. They are neither special or hard to find.
Also, if the package gets X-rayed all you need is for some over cautious or badly informed airport security person to stop the parcel and you'll have to sort it out.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
