Moving Credit cards after mortgage approved

Hi All,
I'd like to move my debt (about £2.5K) from my current credit card to an interest free one which I have never done before so confused to start with
Also on top my question here is we have just bought a home and moved in so my credit file has had soft and hard searches for the mortgage approved in December
I am assuming I need to wait until maybe 6 months before moving credit cards?
Thanks v much
