Travel Republic - no hotel booked on arrival

Could someone please point me to the correct forum with regard to Travel republic. i arrived in Gran Canaria on Sat , went to hotel and I was told that there was no booking for me even though I had the hotel voucher and paid invoice. Apparently the same company had no bookings there all week for the customers that had arrived and were transfered to a hotel 2 mile s away from resort centre - I was even told the one that they would send me to. i contacted TR and was told to move or i would have to find my own accomodation. The new hotel was disgusting - i have made approx 8 calls and 8 support issues to TR and they even sent me written evidence that my transfer was for 14:40 and then the actual transfer company sent an email stating it was 14:20 - not to me but the hotel when I had checked out at 12.00.
I have links to make a complaint but I can see that I will not get anywhere fast with them.

Raise it as a complaint but they are us based and I didn't get very far with them a few years ago.
I went through my credit card, raise it as a chargeback, when I did it got challenged and eventually got my money back as a section 75 claim.0 -
If you had your hotel voucher then Travel Republic had booked the hotel with their supplier. Perhaps their supplier hadn't done their job correctly. As it's Gran Canaria and the Canaries are running on very high occupancy it's just as likely the hotel had double booked the rooms and didn't get any cancellations. Standard practice for hotels to overbook, just like airlines.
They double book a room or rooms that have been allocated to the bedbanks and sell them to direct bookers, because they get much better rates. If they don't get any cancellations it's the bedbanks customers that get bumped.
Travel Republic aren't US based. They're a UK company based in Surrey, and up to the end of 2011 when they sold to Dnata they were an independent company.
Write to Customer Services and ask them to take it up with their supplier on your behalf.0 -

Thanks very mych for advice but i feel as if i am going around in circles. I applied to visa credit to intervene and raise a dispute with TR because of :
You have not received the goods or services that you purchased from the supplier
The goods provided by the supplier are faulty
The goods or services provided are not as described by the supplier
You were persuaded to buy goods or services on the basis of incorrect information
They wrote back that they could not take this any further.
TR came back with an offer of 30% Discount but as they had nit addressed any if the issues i said no.
They came bavk with a 40% discount but the information they supplied was totally misinformed and totally differs from what is on their website as well as photos.
I went back to Visa as TR had admitted they were in the wrong. I have recieved a letter back from Visa stating that they still cannot dispute the payment. I am awaiting information back again from TR but is ut worth paying with Visa at all for holidays as i have submitted no end if information, photographs and still cannit claim. Also TR's agent has stated that safe was free - I have got payment receipt, transfer hotel was the same as i had booked : Hotel i should of been in:
Room facilities Rey Carlos
· Air conditioning-Alarm clock-Balcony-Bathtub only
· Cable/satellite television channels-Ceiling fan
· Coffee/tea maker-Desk
· Direct-dial phone-Hair dryer
· Hair dryer (on request)
· In-room safe- Kitchenette
· Phone-Private bathroom
· Refrigerator-Satellite television service
· Separate dining area-Shower only

215-sq-foot (20-sq-meter) room, balcony with resort views

Bathroom - Private bathroom, free toiletries, and a shower/tub combination

Comfort - Air conditioning and daily housekeeping
Room is accessed via exterior corridors
These descriptions are from their own website. I dont know where to go from here. Its like banging my head againsg a brick wall. Plus no one has a name and you cannit talk to anyone its all by email.

Forget about the info they provide or what issues they address, all that matters is the discount they're offering. How much did you ask for? I have a feeling you are getting bogged down in details that nobody reads or looks at.0 -
