We simply don't know why the OP is considering paying £££s for a domain name. In fact their first post doesn't even suggest that that is what they want to do.

I currently use easily to purchase the domains and 50webs to host them.

I did have a site a while back that sounded like a major magazines website. It did get a few visits from people looking for the other site. That was obtained by freenetname. Remember them? Dial up days. You dialled up once a month and that paid for it. When i got BB and stopped using dial up they wanted silly money to release it. They renewed it for several years but finally released it and i managed to get it for peanuts again.

I always search first on domainmonster.com
If I wanted to search for one for sale I would search on sedo.com

Whoever you use, DO NOT use godaddy. Just google "godaddy buying searched domains". Even if they stopped this practice, I would not want to do business with a company like this in the future.

Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue.:)

I've been running my domain with Hostgator for the last 4/5 years now with no problem at all.

None of these hidden charges or whatever or hard selling you junk you don't need. Runs cPanel for all the admin side of things.

It's an american company but for my small hosting package and domain I pay maybe £5 per month to keep it running. There's the yearly domain renewal too.

Never had any complaints. Even when I've had issues (when I've broken something) their customer services have always sorted things very quickly.
