How do I change my name legally?

My brother changed his surname by statutory declaration, however he's not married.0

Is there any chance that doing this could affect my credit rating/file? I don't have debts or anything and I'm certainly not changing my name for any type of fraud, but I'm worried in case it's some sort of 'red flag' to the credit reference agencies.0
