M25 traffic going clockwise on Friday afternoon

Good afternoon

Posting here as Googling my query has produced a mixed bag of results.

On Friday afternoon I will need to drive from Bournemouth to Kidbrooke, joining at J10 and leaving at J2.

I'm planning on leaving Bournemouth soon after 1pm. Can anyone guess what the traffic will be like going clockwise on the M25 at around 3pm?

Assuming you mean anti-clockwise (counting down the junction numbers)? Traffic will be heavy-ish, and may be stop-start in places along the SW and S sections. The Northbound section should be okay, unless there is an incident at the Dartford Crossing.

I would definitely agree with approaching London via J2 (Dartford/A2) rather than J3 (Swanley/A20).

Not really. Some days it can be clogged for miles, other days you can fly through, with no rhyme or reason. The good news is that you won't need to go as far as the tunnel and the furthest the queue usually goes back to is J2, where you'll be getting off anyway to head along the A2, which can be equally as clogged!

Watch out for speed cameras on the A2. There are plenty of them.

Or just, y' know, keep to the speed limits.

I'd go J4, A21 Bromley, Catford and South Circ. You're coming in against the flow on a Friday afternoon and getting off the motorway earlier. But that's partially because I know the back doubles...
I need to think of something new here...

Gone. Replaced by average speed cameras.

This. Mrs Shadow drives from ours (near Bournemouth) to Sutton on a Sunday evening and back on Thursday evening. Her journey times can vary by at least an hour.
