yeh, looking into these as my laptop speakers are dying.

I prefer the anker sound, listen for yourself. Think there is an anker v3 out?

Gone for the Jam speaker, but can't hook it up to the tv - assumed aux in would take care of this, no?
  • Do you know what make and model of TV? Not many TVs made in the last 5 or so years will have an aux out to connect it to.

Generally to connect to any external speakers HDMI/ARC or an optical connection are required.

Make is Toshiba, model I will have to check when I get home. It is about 4 years old.

How do I connect via ARC or optical?

Simple answer is you can't as you only have a aux in in your speaker.

The more complicated answer is yes you can but it will cost you more than the speaker to implement. You would need buy an optical cable and a digital to analogue converter and plug the tv into one end and the speaker into the other. This is a cheap one:

Then again, your TV may have an aux out, which you just use a standard 3.5mm cable plugged into the speaker. However as I said before, it depends on the model of the TV.

    Thanks.

It does have an aux out and I tried this however the sound was incredibly quiet so I was a little unsure that it was the correct way to connect it.

So, in short, I need to return the Bluetooth speaker and opt for an alternative? I just want something that will enhance the volume and sound quality when watching tv and be able to plug in/connect via BT my ipad and iphone to listen to music. Nothing complex.

No, it seems you have the correct connection. With something like this, it will always be quieter than if you would plug it into say a pc or link directly with bluetooth.

You could look in the menus of your tv when the speaker is plugged in to see if there is a separate option for line out/aux/headphones that you can turn up, otherwise, that will be the best you can get from the system you have.
