Singapore stopover

Hi everyone, I asked this question before but didn't get any replies so hope someone can help.
We are visiting family in NZ thus winter. Will take a stopover in Singapore on the way back.
Like the look of the Allson hotel at £19 per person per night but, is it worth upgrading to the Holiday Inn Atrium at £28 pppn?
Bearing in mind that this is a once in a lifetime visit?
Any other sujestions?

If it really is a once in a lifetime visit you stay at Raffles whatever the cost.

We stopped here on way to Oz in 2006.

  • We stayed in the Albert Court Hotel in August this year. Got a room upgrade. Really really nice.

Tip: Taxis are so cheap - don't walk anywhere (except Orchard Rd). Airport to City is $25 (£10)
  • Oh - we stayed in a Rendezvous Hotel in Brisbane after this. They had one in Singapore - quite central too. They do weekend deals (Weekend Rendezvous, surprisingly enough) - you get upgraded to suite, full breakfast, valet parking (don't rent a car though!). Great if you've got kids. Great too if you haven't.
  • Raffles is VERY nice although i will cost you a few quid! To be honest Singapore is so cheap for transport/food etc... you might as well splash out on a nice place to stay. Ritz Carlton is good as is The Oriental and a short walk from Boat Quay etc...

We stayed in the HOliday Inn (not sure if its the same one though is there more than one in singapore?) If so it was really nice, large room and soooo comfy beds, and the swimming pool was gorgeous!
