Hotel / car hire needed - Guangzhou, China

Hotel needed for 2 blokes. Twin room/two rooms. Close as possible to Guangzhou, China from 10/10/07 - 22/10/07, breakfast included if possible. Budgeted travel, but 3* plus.

Also interested in car hire for same period.

Anyone got anything, as only 1 in 5 websites actually have rooms or car hire there.

Any ideas on either hotel or car gratefully accepted.

Unless one of you is Chinese you will not be allowed to drive there, so forget about car hire. Of course you can hire a car and driver, but that can be rather expensive.

Look at a website like Asia Rooms for hotel booking, but unless you are going to be knackered on arrival just roll up somewhere and negotiate. But you do have to bargain hard to get a reasonable price.

So driving's out. Probably for the best lol.

Still need hotel ideas. Problem being that there is an international trade fair on at that time. I don't see rolling up being an option.

30-40miles out would be an option as long as there is close, reliable public transport. Anything within that boundary.
