A small terrace is Band F or G? Is the property correctly banded?
The figures quoted in your link are for the County Council's portion of the overall council tax bill. Further charges for the Police and Crime Commisioner and the Borough Council are in addition, and come to £1940.15 in total for a band E property.0 -
Your friend should certainly check out what Council Tax support may be available.

She can ask for Section 13A discretionary relief from Council Tax (the council must at the least consider her application) - http://lgfa92.co.uk/section-13a-write-off/
CraigI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I've put the figures through the calculator and it would seem that she may get a reduction of approx. £26 a week on what she's paying now.
Currently paying £28.00 a week (with 25% single occupier reduction)
Income £178 pw*
An applicable amount of £168 pw*
*20% of the £10 difference = £2.00pw
Would this be about right? It would reduce her CT by about £26 a week?
I'm going to see her shortly and will get her to phone the council for an application form. £26 a week would make a huge difference to her.0
