Earth cable on light fitting

The pic below is of a new light I bought. I've got a live, earth and neutral coming out of the ceiling. The light came with a test cable (blue and black), there's a spare block in the centre for the earth, but there's nothing on the other side of the block. Does the earth just terminate in the connector block or do I need to add something else?

Surely the neutral from ceiling goes where the blue is and the live to where the brown is?0 -

I don't wish to appear rude, but asking that question suggests that perhaps you are not properly competent to install this light fitting.
Perhaps you have mistyped neutral for earth.
The light will not work if the neutral supply is not connected. (Well, it might work if you connected the earth cable to the neutral but that would be very dangerously unsafe. )
You need to connect the live and neutral supply to the correct live and neutral connections in the fitting. They look to be shown correctly in your picture.
It probably does not require an earth connection but don't rely on that.
Did the light fitting come with an instruction leaflet?
If yes, what does that say?
If there is no leaflet, look on the box or google for information.
Get someone in to fit it for you unless you really do know what you are doing.0 -
Sorry, yes I did mean earth. Corrected the OP to avoid further confusion!
The light did come with a manual, but it's not clear:
The image makes perfect sense, but as you can see it has earth on both sides of the connector block, whereas on the light itself (pic in OP) there's no earth (apart from the earth I have in the ceiling).0 -
is the light fitting double insulated?0
-
is there a bit of metal going into the earth of the connector block from the base of the light ? looks like it might be from your photo in which case its earthed when you connect your earth.0
-
It is earthed. There is a little metal lug the 'other' side of the earth terminal that is connected into the earth lug.
As above. If you aren't sure, don't do this. This is how people die.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
The luminaire certainly purports to have double or reinforced insulation (i.e. Class II). This can be verified in the photo posted which shows a symbol with a square inside another square.is the light fitting double insulated?
Apologies - I have just looked at the picture again and it is the LED driver which is Class II and not the luminaire.0 -

Ah, that now makes sense.
Just connect it as in your OP. As someone else posted, the earth is hard wired and not on a flex or cable.
From left to right.
Blue neutral, green/yellow earth, brown or black live.0 -
Double insulated by the looks of it, but connect it anyway.
Also try not to leave any exposed wire sticking out of your terminal block, it's not ideal wiring.0
