Forgot to display permit for my own space

A private company called "14 Services" introduced a permit policy at the complex I live in last year. Recently I failed to display my permit (it had fallen off my dashboard into the foot well) whilst parked in my allocated space. I rent the property within the complex off a private landlord.
Should I attempt to appeal the parking charge or am I better off paying the £60 (rising to £100 in a couple of days)?
My car is also not registered at the property I'm renting, not sure if that would make any difference.
Thanks in advance!

Your thread is very similar to this one. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5598235 Read the advice there in parallel to yours.0

Yep. Checklist for you to do:
1) Check AST to see if there is any mention of parking restrictions
2) Contact your landlord and ask why you have been ticketed in the bay you have rented as part of your AST and have him speak to the Management Agent to get this ticket cancelled. I am sure the MA will try to fob your LL and you off, don't let them
3) Did you ever sign for your permits e.g. how did you acquire them?
Report the above back here and people will help.0 -
1. The parking scheme was introduced midway through my tenancy so there is nothing in my contract regarding the the permit policy.
2. My landlord is an ex policeman who I have a good relationship with so I will contact him today.
3. I never signed for the permits, I received them through the post0 -
1) Very good
2) Very good
Speak with him and explain the situation. Any reasonable person will see that this PCN is ridiculous and should be cancelled. Ask the LL to check his lease (given #1 above I doubt it will mention any restrictions and will likely refer to you having "... exclusive access to your allocated bay for the purpose of parking a motor vehicle ...") If that all checks out have him speak to the MA or authorize you to do so on his behalf and find out if they engaged "14 Services", if so explain to them this situation and ask for them to speak to their Agents ("14 Services") and get it cancelled forthwith. They will likely try to fob you off and tell you to deal directly with "14 Services" ... at this point come back here and we will advise again ...
3) Good
Be prepared for a bit of a struggle here, MA's are a little reluctant to get involved but you need to make this their problem not yours.
On whether in parallel you should appeal to "14 Services" someone will probably give advice on that shortly, I don't know this company. What are they a member of the BPA or IPC?0 -
While you check with the landlord, and what your AST says, you should also read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES then send the IPC template as keeper that you will find there.
Do not reveal who was driving, but if there is no mention of parking or permits in your AST, you should add that information.
You should also look at the Homeguard vs Jopson case on the Parking-Prankster's blogspot where the judge said parking scammers can't add Ts and Cs to an existing lease/AST. It would be worth mentioning this to the landlord.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

IPC members trading as Homeguard, the same lot that lost the Jopson case I believe and had to pay the defendant £2 grand.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

Hahahahahahaha, would have thought they would have learnt their lesson and the appeal would actually be quite straightforward then wouldn't you?
They keep trying because so many people just pay up, not realising the scammers are scammers.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Maybe a tailored IPC member appeal is appropriate here then?
Mention the JOPSON case and if they still reject this goes towards "unreasonableness" because at Step 1 the OP showed the PPC that they themselves lost one of the most extensively referenced residential parking cases ...0 -
I've emailed the landlord, I'll write up the IPC appeal and post back here before sending off0
