    If dealing direct with the hotel then possibly but making a threat to exhort money isn't really ethical in my book.

    The OP is dealing with a tour operator. I think more likely to get a resolution without threats plus the tour operator won't care much about the hotel's trip advisor reviews from a few posters.

    I would always suggest getting your complaint resolved first before posting an over negatively review on a hotel on Trip Advisor or similar review sites.
