No. An insecure system. They require extensive personal details of everyone at the property - would you be happy with divulging DoB of your children, for example - and they pass on those details to all and sundry. Government departments and CRAs amongst others (apparently - though I couldn't find it myself - you can opt out of some of this dissemination of personal data. The tick box must be well hidden).
Don't use Royal Mail Redirect.0 -
We had it set up for 3 months but the correspondence from TMobile began after this expired.
I'm not oblivious to the stupid errors myself and wife have made as a few of the responses here have pointed out.0 -

I've done it before and all i had to supply were names and date of births of everyone in the property and both addresses like you say. I wouldn't say that is extensive personal details becasue they couldn't provide the service without peoples names and the addresses and DOB isn't exactly secret information. I've told all my friends and family my childs DOB at one time or another. Plus when you have a childs birthday party and people see the banners/badges of how old the child is that day anyone can work out the DOB.
So in conclusion i would highly recommend Royal Mail Redirect to anyone that moves.0 -
I know it's no real help in your current situation, but when all is sorted and hopefully you manage to get a mortgage, take this case to your MP.
While, strictly speaking, perhaps the situation could have been handled differently on your part, this is a good example of what credit reporting is not really supposed to be about.
The idea of credit reporting is to filter out delinquents. It was never intended (apparently) to be a tool to enable utility and phone providers to blackmail their customers, nor to put mistakes on a par with delinquency, but that's what we've got. the system isn't working in the best interests of the consumer and something needs to be done about it. Try your MP - see what he has to say about it.
I highly doubt any MP would have anything to do with things like this.
The idea of credit reporting is to show who "keeps up" with their contractual payments, when people don't keep up with their contractual payments this data is represented accurately.
Because, you know, just maybe, this could be an indicator they are likely to do the same things again.
So, from another point of view this is exactly what credit reporting is supposed to do.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
Yeah, that's what I'm frustrated by really. I'm not blaming anyone else for what's happened but ultimately the effect is completely disproportionate to the original mistake (if that's what it is).
The person who my wife spoke to on the phone at TMobile originally said they thought it should only be showing as one missed payment but now they are maintaining it should be 4, presumably because it took 4 months to settle.
I think my wife might have thought she was no longer bound to any credit agreement because the actual contract period had expired. The original contract was for 12 months and that had come to an end in 2014. Since then she was still paying the £11 per month on what she believed to be a rolling basis.
If your wife believes she definitely did phone them, then as has been said requesting a SAR might be worth it to confirm what comms has occurred.
Also you may want to consider a new broker and come to terms that you may have to put off a mortgage for a while until things settle. I initially went to an estate agent broker and then a national fee free broker who both failed to help before going to a fee paid specialist who got me a high-street mortgage, despite limited income and my partner been an ex-bankrupt. So tell your wife to not worry as it's just a mere bump in the road. At least you can now let potential brokers know your situation whilst vetting which to go for.0 -
