I had a Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler fitted by British Gas in March 2015. I had Homecare with British Gas at the time. The boiler has had a problem. Went back to British Gas with the job number and invoice number of their installation. I was told they only gave a 1 year guarantee on boilers they fitted in 2015. They would come and fix it, but I would have to pay because I don't have Homecare with them anymore. I explained that Worcester Bosch gave a 5 year guarantee on all their boilers, so shouldn't it be covered? British Gas were very unhelpful and stuck to their guns about me paying for a repair. I have had the repair done but not thru B. Gas. I was very angry about this and contacted Worcester Bosch. They have told me that British Gas should have told me to contact Worcester Bosch, because they would have done the repair under the guarantee until 2020, as indeed all their boilers are warranted. My advice to all, do not get British Gas to fit your new boiler, decide on the one you want, and get one of the manufacturers accredited firms to fit it. British Gas do not care about helping you if it breaks down unless you have a Homecare agreement. B.Gas do now, from 2018 give a five year guarantee without homecare, but beware if they fitted one for you before then. And who is to say that B. Gas will honour their new guarantee if in the past, they have flouted the manufacturers guarantee. Get a guarantee in writing from British Gas before you buy from them.

BG are a private co no different to your local installer, you should always phone the boiler manu for a warentee call

Hi, what was the part and was the problem fixed. Out of guarantee or warranty I had this same problem due I think to slight boiler leak from taps under Ariston boiler not closing fully, but over last 16 years the boiler with this fault has worked fine with periodic topping up every few weeks.

Do u know if there is any independent site that compares boiler makes with percentage number of warranty claims so it is possible to see reliability between different makes. A motor engineer I spoke to was going through the warranty bookings for new cars of a popular make and noticed a very high incidence of warranty repairs of new cars being repaired under the warranty which is not a good sign of reliability.
