    Has no one mentioned you could have a faulty meter,reading faster than it should.Getting the meter swapped over to a smart meter would eliminate it anyway.

    You are taking your readings in the winter so they will be a fair bit higher than summer so your overall average should be less than 10k .

    Wow, I used 969 kwh last year.

    Does the new house have heated towel rails?.
    Immersion stuck on?.

    As it's got a combi boiler it's unlikely to have an immersion heater
    Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

    Thanks everyone, some really good tips which we'll try. I'm not 100% confident with the meter readings but we do have photos so we can check them against the online help link above. Hopefully that will be the issue! Thanks for all the responses :)

    where folks go wrong when reading dial meters is that they take the number that the pointer is closest to,

    At a glance this

    ac5st_e.jpg

    reads 16064, so only 100 out, so depending which dial is miss-read, in this example could be anything from 1 - 10000 out.

    Check you readings.
