Descaling the kettle

Hi, I've been looking up how to descale my kettle and seen videos online of people using white vinegar. The only thing I've been able to find in my local supermarket is white wine vinegar. Anybody know if that's the same thing or if it'll work?

I use any cheap vinegar from the supermarket. One quarter vinegar, the rest water, left in the kettle overnight. In the morning, a good rinse, a couple of boils and it's ready to go. They key is not to let the hard deposits build up too much.

Incidentally, I often empty a bottle of (cheap) vinegar in the toilet bowl and hey presto, a hygienic, harmless and ecological strong limescale remover has been in action.

Said vinegar costs me 21p per bottle in Morrisons.

Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
