Hi just a quick question.
Does anyone know if you can apply for a Tesco current account if you have a previous history of bad debt?
Many thanks

Nothing to stop you applying, whether they give you one is another matter0

Perhaps better to define "bad debt". That way you'll get more meaningful and relevant replies. For example, one person's idea may be 2 late payments 3 years ago, and another person's idea may be CCJs and bankruptcy 10 months ago.0

Check your credit files first to see what they look like, although that probably ought not to be news for a 6K+ poster who works for a bank!0

It's not for me personally I applied myself and was offer a 9k overdraft.
The person concerned has old debts partly satisfied from 2014 by offering settlement figures.

I'm currently on a DMP and have 2x tesco current accounts, so bad credit history certainly didn't effect my application.
I did ensure I ticked the box stating I didn't want an overdraft thoughLBM March 2015. Started DMP 1/6/15.
Total debt £27906
Debt free date 1/3/24
Emergency fund £3450/£50000 -
He is (as said above) more likely to get accepted if he doesn't want an overdraft0

You would more likely to be offered the "online" card in those circumstances I think so you wouldn't be able to use it at petrol pumps etc.0
