Hi I am looking for someone who is UKATA trained on here to answer my question
I have had water damage in my toilet and had to pull up the lino. I know that the tiles underneath are low grade asbestos. I hoovered over them not realising, that they were lifting and cracked in a few places. No pieces missing. My hoover, a Henry had no bag in it at the time. Anyway, I have covered the tiles until they are removed by professionals and have washed out hoover, wore a mask to empty it,
, bought new filter and hepa bags, run the hoover outside for 5 mins. Is it now safe to use the hoover or should I bin it and buy a new one? Please only answer this if you really know, I appreciate that we all have read about asbestos and have opinions but Id like an answer from someone who really knows. No offence intended

I myself would use the hoover.
I would also remove the floor tiles myself & replace them.
But I suppose the asbestos police will be along fairly quickly to frighten you death......
We were all born with common sense but......

The OP shouldn't be "frightened to death" as they have already covered the tiles and provided that this has been well done, the tiles shouldn't pose any danger as long as they are not disturbed further.0 -

I would advise caution before using the hoover. A hoover for Asbestos must be H-class which yours undoubtedly is not. There are likely now to be all sorts of fibres all over the hoover which could pose a serious hazard to health.0

Why not save some money by leaving the tiles in situ with new lino on top and then treat yourself to a new Henry if you're worried.0
