Looking for very specific travel insurance

Hi there
We are a couple in our late 20s with no medical conditions and will be travelling to South America later this year
We are looking at travel insurance which will cover us up to 6,000 m altitude, as well as cover our internal flights (so that if by any chance we are left stranded anywhere as a result of an internal flight cancellation and are unable to make the flight home they would take care of getting us back)
Not very bothered about covering valuables as we haven't got any :rotfl:
I have checked several comparison sites, however I can't seem to find any that would let me filter by the 2 variables above?
If anyone knows a provider which covers the above/ a good comparison site that would be very helpful!

I'd have thought that if those things weren't covered they would be specifically excluded rather than stated to be included.
You obviously also want to mitigate your risk, so acclimatising ideally in stages would help with the altitude and ensuring you arrive at your return flight destination the previous day will provide flexibility for the international return.
With teh altitude are you planning any climbing as that would be a specific policy?0 -
Hi Bigadaj, thanks for your response
I had a look at a few T&Cs, and most insurers specify a max altitude they will cover... And most don't go as high as 6,000m unfortunately
Insure & Go does, however they don't cover internal flights
No climbing involved, but we are planning on trekking the rainbow mountains in Peru, which are over 6,000 metres high!0 -

https://www.worldnomads.com/
Their basic policy which includes some sports (level 1) covers hiking up to 3000m but you can increase this to level 2 (4500m or level 3 (6000m).
If you do a test quote you can then see the full policy document.
Scroll down to section 17 for work, sports & activities and then look at hiking (on recognised routes).
Section 11 covers flight cancellation and from glancing at it, it looks like you are covered for internal flights outside of the UK if you opt for Explorer cover.0 -
Are you using an agent to book any of the trip? I would have thought that a specialist such as TrailFinders might be able to help, as they deal with lots of more adventurous travellers. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0

OK so the issue of flights is trickier as stated - the best way is to allow yourself a little extra time as suggested.
The solution may be to buy a policy where the norm is to do such things - not rely on a "bucket and spade" holiday insurance provider's set up to get you out of a remote area if the worst happens.
Try - https://www.thebmc.co.uk/insurance - think you need Alpine or above cover...check the details!I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0
