I guess you don't like a post... but which one???

    Please clarify.
  • I am asking for help, not lectures or electrical advise.

    What are my rights?

I always thought as a consumer we had rights, am I wrong?

I mentioned the electrical issues to allay your concerns that the iPod was dangerous, and that it itself isn't a sign the iPod is faulty.

I also mentioned that files going missing from an iPod doesn't necessarily imply a fault with the iPod but, from reading the many forum posts on the subject, could be a software issue with Apple's iCloud/Apple music service. e.g. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/downloaded-music-keeps-disappearing-from-my-iphone.1906227/

Several people have already explained what your rights are and what you should do next.

Ok thank you, and yes your post did make me feel better. I have had a shock from a house mains before and ouch that hurt. This felt not on par per say but shocking enough. I guess since then I have got older,.

Is their a site I can print things off so if it comes to it I can show them? I can see myself getting in to a full blown argument without the proof.

I've already given you a link to some of the legislation.

Print Section 22 of the CRA for a start.

Have you yet read MSE's Consumer Rights guide?
Lots of good stuff in there.
  • Wealdrome's post at 10:46 has the necessary information, including a link to the relevant bit of the legislation that explains that even though 6 weeks have passed you are still entitled to a refund under the 30 day right to reject because you took the item back as faulty after only two weeks. The iPod is not fit for purpose (music keeps disappearing). You have a right to a refund.

Ask to speak to a manager, not the know nothing hipster marijuana smoker behind the till.

And the advice I usually give is be polite but firm and don't take no for an answer.

If you still get nowhere with them, you can try the resolver website:

No joke, I am about the same age..well 32 acient to them lol, Sometimes you go in and they are playing rap music etc uncensored. Do not get me wrong I am not a prune, I love rap music myself. As a business with rap music full on swears in your ear and cashiers with a pierce in any way imaginable on the face, to me thats not a good sign.

Thank you to all that helped.

I went in today and got a good result, I will have a replacement to be picked up on Tuesday as they had non in store. They even offered my money back if I wanted.

Shows what a bit of knowledge can get you. Thank you so much to this site and people like you who know and fight for our rights, without it a lot of people including myself would have had a loss.

To be fair with the workers their they handled the situation very good and professional even when I got a bit irate. At the end of the day they are only workers their no need to kick off with them. Sometimes though when you are being told you have done something you know 100% is not possible you do get angry.
