Firefox Not Responding (Windows 7)

Within the last few days, Firefox keeps freezing about every few seconds and it says (Not Responding) in the browser.

Has there been any known updates that could have caused this? Are other people having this problem with Firefox recently?

    No problems here.

Try creating a secondary clean user profile in Firefox and see if that's also affected by the problem. If not, it's likely to be a compatibility issue between Firefox and one of your add-ons.

You can open Firefox's profile manager (to create a test user profile) by typing the following at a command prompt:
    firefox -p

tools/options/advanced/clear cached web content usually works for me as a temp fix. Used Firefox for years but thinking of ditching it. Not an Edge or Chrome fan, currently trying Opera

Slimjet is a streamlined version of Chrome and is a lot faster http://www.slimjet.com/
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Lately my up to date version of Firefox hangs every time my Windows 7 comes out of sleep, with say 5 tabs open. With Windows 10 it seems a bit more stable.

A few days ago, I cleared the browser history and cache. After doing so, it stopped showing the (Not Responding) message in the title bar.

However, it started showing the (Not Responding) error again and freezing every few seconds. So I unticked the option in Advanced settings 'Use hardware acceleration when available'. That seems to have made a difference, as it's not showing the error message now.
