Another +ve balance question

I've started this thread as I think a question I've asked at the bottom of this older thread won't be noticed and I want to check my understanding.
Just want to check my understanding of this. If I get, for example, a Halifax BT card and want to transfer £3000 from my TSB card, I instead request a £6000 balance transfer putting the TSB card £3000 in credit and hopefully get that +ve balance transferred to my current account.
I imagine I should be careful to time this to avoid debits from the account reducing the +ve balance resulting in a request for a transfer in excess of the +ve balance figure.

Yes hopefully.
Alternatively they may return the balance transfer and/or close the account for breach of the terms and conditions.

and in this case you would still be hit with the BT fee.
