Hi,
Trying to find the setting for my mk1 w reg ford focus zetec 1.8 petrol.
Will be putting in bosch super plus plugs.
I'm seeing some people say 1.0mm gap others 1.3mm, is there a guide anywhere on the web please? Haynes I think said 1.3 then ford change to 1.0?????
Cheers.

I would use whatever gap Ford have amended it to. A lot of plugs these days come pre-gapped and advised not to re-gap. So what I would do is buy a good set of plugs (e.g. Bosch, NGK) for your car and leave it at whatever gap it is set to (as long as between 1.0mm and 1.3mm).0

If you have a look here
bosch-automotive-catalog.com/en/vehicle-search?country=GB
You can put in the model and exact engine type which will give the type of plug and the gap.0 -
The consequences of wrong gaps........ Too small and it may cause misfires and/or struggle to burn clean, too big and it'll stress/overheat the ignition coil, you might also get misfires, the bigger the gap the higher the voltage required to jump it.
The difference in voltage can be quite significant., approximately 5000v for 0.2mm.
