My best memories of visiting London as a kid was looking down from the tops of London buses.
When you're in central London you can find most attractions near tube stations using this tube map. .These are some of the ones that show you the touristy bits (they're just ordinary buses so you use your Oyster card), and maybe use this website to find stuff to do. For cheap dining in the evening try 5pm.co.uk (you already know it as it's a Scottish site but it does cover London) The Stockpot restaurant chain runs cosy restaurants in Chelsea and the West End, and do good cheap basic meals at normal prices, unlike almost everywhere else in the centre (or even outskirts) of London - their addresses are on the internet. I'd recommend Chinatown for good eating but many of their best deals are for two or more and I don't know if you're travelling in your own.

    I'll second the Duck Tour!
Hope you have a great time!

The West End branch closed in 2015, but King's Road is still going strong

That's one less restaurant in the West End that's recommendable.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

I like walking so would walk around these ones, if its the tourist things you want to do

Tralfager Sq, mall, Buckingham Palace, though the park (feed squrrils with peanuts) into horse guards, pass downing street, ben big, cross river London eye, (we normally have quick macdonalds here) along south bank looks at street shows then you have the Globe, the shard, (could eat at the street market here) tower bridge, tower of London then finish at monument
the cable cars at O2 are nice but not much at the O2 to see
