But surely 8xxxx text numbers are charged at premium rate PLUS your carriers text charge, which would completely make this tip useless?
    Pete

Virgin are charging me 10p a text to the number, my usual rate. I don't think all 8xxxx numbers are premium these days, are they?

Just phoned Orange who told me that the 85100 number costs 10p to send to BUT 50p to receive from. However, they can't see my usage for today for another 24 hours so I can't clarify for certain.
  • I just called orange as well, they told me that I have been charged 12p for sending the text but I could get charged up to £1.50 for receiving the text. They can't tell me how much I'm going to be charged until my bill gets produced next month (which I think is rubbish)

Maybe only worth it if you are on PAYG?

Or better still use http://www.mp3sparks.com/ and pay even less for DRM free music.

A shame it is as illegal as allofmp3 was.

I checked my Virgin mobile account and have been charged 10p per text and nothing to receive it. So a great deal!

They are being a little slow with my account, it correctly says that I've got no credit left but doesn't show how I have spent it. I would have thought that the money to receive the messages would have been taken straight away :)

erm, i'm having a bit of a problem.

The text code has come through ok, but when I try to buy a song, it doesn't offer me anywhere to type the code- it just says 'are you sure you would like to purchase' and says that it will be automatically charged to the card.
I've just accidently paid for the song now.
    Can anyone help with this.

    Thanks
  • Go to the itunes homepage and on the right there should be an option to "redeem" under the quick links section. Click on that and then enter the code.
