Solved: I needed to re-log into the account for some reason. Now the display looks different, so maybe they logged me out when they changed things.

I have a PAYG moble using EE and an app on my phone called 'My EE'. I use this occasionally to check my credit balance. I have it set to access the internet only via wifi.

Today I tried using the app and got a screen asking me to turn off my wifi, otherwise it would 'take much longer to get into My EE. But don't worry, we won't use your data'.

If I turn off wifi and go back in to the app, it says 'You're out of signal. Try again when your signals back'.

Any idea what's going on?

Ta.

Assume the same when installing the Vodafone APP. To verify its you and your account they ask you to login through the data connection not WIFI.
