Switching bank account and energy at the same time

I switched my energy supplier today and I also want to switch my current account. I know switching bank account automatically moves your direct debits, but as the change in energy supplier hasn't gone through yet will that be switched as well or will I have to get in touch? I only have 5 weeks at home and need to get it sorted in time for my new card to turn up before I leave.

When you get your new sort code and account number check with the energy company what details they hold and change them if needed.
Any current direct debits will automatically switch with your bank account but if they do not set it up before the old account is closed you will have to manually change the details with the energy company.0 -
You say you want to switch your bank account, does that mean you haven't started the process yet?
How long ago did you start the energy switch?
There really shouldn't be a problem if you have five weeks at home. Do the bank account switch as soon as you can. When it is complete, ring or log on to your current energy supplier and tell them the new details so they can take the final payment/ give you any refund. This part of it should be done automatically, but no harm in making sure.
Once the energy switch has gone through, do the same with your new supplier, as this will probably not happen automatically.
Sounds long-winded, but it's only a couple of calls for peace of mind.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0
