Are you getting help for the mental health ?0

I do understand that you have mental health issues. To avoid things getting worse, while you are on your good state of mind do call the creditors and ask them to block the cards - to stop further spending - and explain your case. They might need a doctors letter or something.
On your side, make sure you destroy the cards so you dont feel tempted to use them again. It sounds that you are well aware now - you posted this message - that you cant pay it back so deal with it while you can. Dont get further into debt. Even considering that you are ill, you are spending the money, so not sure there will be an easy way out of it.
Start by talking to the creditors, but i dont think it is right way to blame them for your issues/problems.0 -
This is 2 years later. I'd been spending and paying back fine until a few months ago when something bad happened and I lost control and yes I DO blame my mental health problems, you don't even know what they are or how they effect me in life do you "shakin steve"?! I am fully aware of the fact that I have to repay the debt.
Recently I've been thinking about complaining just for them to say yes we made a mistake. I don't want to get out of paying. I feel like it was irresponsible of them to give me the huge amount that they have and to have given me the card in the first place. I am aware that it is also my fault too.
I knew posting on here was a mistake. I spent months debating it and won't be back again to read any replies.
Welcome to the real world. Occasionally things happen that knock us for six. You should be looking to pay down the debt instead of trying to wriggle your way out of it.
My opinion is that you would have no chance in front of a judge.0 -

They did not GIVE you a huge amount. They gave you a limit but it was up to you to decide how much to spend.
I appreciate that you say that you have health issues and it is probably true that if you had declared them at the application stage they would not have given you the card. ( And it is possible if that happened you would be on here screaming discrimination)Please get help - if you phone/write to the lender they will help you come up with a repayment plan but will probably cancel the card for any new spending.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.0 -
Well....forgive me for stating the bleedin obvious. I have no idea how your mental health issues affect you, but, as you said, you got the card two years ago. So, at what point in the last two years did you decide the CC company were at fault. This is 2 years later. People come on here asking for advice, but do not want a dose of the truth along with that advice. Well sorry, but we are not social workers.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -
Come on guys, don't be too harsh on him. We've all been there and it's easily done. Got that first card limit of £200, spent it the same day, and then struggled to pay it back. I also share mental health problems with the op, so i know how difficult this situation can be.
That being said, i also agree with the other posters on here, that he needs to take responsibility over his spending. And rather than blame the bank, for giving him credit, thank them. And then if he no longer needs it, pay it off, and shut it down. I think this is the best route of action, for all involved...0
