Van purchased on Finance now faulty

What is his line of work??0
-
Put it this way:
He went into a Ford dealer. Looked at vehicles. Purchased a van. There is no connection between the dealership selling him the van and the fact he uses it for work too.
He uses the van for a variety of purposes, from school runs to tip runs, including for work so he has correct insurance.
He purchased the van completely unconnected to a business.
We took it to the garage for a diagnosis and a fix, because I do understand that general wear and tear, tyres and repairs etc are the responsibility of the owner.
BUT if the garage have tried to fix the problem, cannot figure out what it is, and it would appear that the issue is something more serious than general wear and tear after 7 months.
We have made the efforts and paid money to fix the problem and it is the NEXT step that I am unsure of how to proceed.
If the advice is that we are stuck with a problematic van for the next 4 years then that's very disappointing. And doesn't make sense when Martins guides on this very site seem to say otherwise0 -

You're not answering the question about his employment and the van.
So let's say you are a consumer.
Take the van somewhere and get a proper diagnosis of the problem. If it's an inherent fault then you may have some comeback. If not it's his van and his problem.0 -
I don't think you will get anywhere with the 'purchased and now faulty' scenario.
I would take it to another garage.
A garage that cannot fix a relatively simple fault like this is not worth bothering with.
He could do some simple fault finding with DR Google !!
Is it a petrol engine or a diesel engine ??
If it is diesel that it might be worth looking at the air intake side of things, starting OK the stopping after a few minutes sounds like air starvation to me.
You might get more help in the motoring forum ??
