Hi , just wondering if anyone can help me out, so my hubby has a 61 plate Peugeot 207 and on Wednesday while he was driving his powering steering just went , he could still drive ok just very hard / stiff , anyway we called our local garage who said they could not help so we called Peugeot for advise , they told us there had been issue with the 207 model and had a few cars back with power steering faults. if ours was the same fault Peugeot would fix for free , perfect ! so we had it hooked up to the diagnostic machine and luck was on our side it was the same fault as the other cars had , had ( PHEW ). Peugeot covered the total cost which is fab we really don't have nearly £1000 ( that's what they said it could go up too , depending what fault came back ? ) to fix it so the relief was amazing , anyway we had to pay the £118.80p for it to go on the diagnostic machine , I get this but the fault was down to Peugeot , had the power steering not broke we would never of needed to of paid put the £118.80p in the first place , my hubby paid it when he collected his car, Peugeot are saying yes the bill is correct and we had to pay ? doses anyone know if I took it further could I maybe get my £118 back , its money we had to pay out because of a error to do wit Peugeot not wear and tare !! anyone had anything similar ? massive thanks and sorry a tad long , Kelly .

Look at this way, had it gone in, had the diagnostics and found no fault OR a fault you would get fixed elsewhere, would they have been wrong to charge?
On one hand it's a bit cr4p, on the other hand you can see why they charge.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You didnt have to pay to put right the fault - win
The dealers cover the parts and labour for the fix, but not the diagnostic....its 5 years old so you would/will have to pay for this sort of thing.0 -
Off the top of my head I would expect the charge to be included if a fault is found that is covered Peugeot. If it had turned out to be something else then fair enough.
Could be worth contacting Peugeot's customer services and querying it. If no joy there I would probably not waste any more time on it, being pragmatic you have got a grandson worth of repairs for your £118.0 -
Grands worth of repairs. I don't even know if you have a grandson (or what he's worth!)0

I feel you ought to polite manner, push for a refund.
There is every chance the dealer already anticipated the fault to be due to their know issues.
Worth asking if there was a recall and then it would have been down to you, or whoever owned it, at time of recall notice going out. Possibly a previous owner forgot to get it addressed.

There is an official recall for cars built in Feb 2012 for steering, but that is because they didn't tighten the nuts on the ball joints, and the steering linkage could just fall apart, not a power assistance fault.

I would take it further also. If there was not a design flaw, the power steering would not have gone and therefore there would have been no charge.
You are financially worse off because of their mistake.
I would send a letter to them advising if they do not refund it, you will take it to small claims.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
