When did I start work for current company

I started work in the Civil Service in 1990.
I got TUPE'd out to "Company a" in 2007
They got taken over by "Company b" in 2009
I then got TUPE'd across to "Company C" in 2012
According to my personnel records with "Company C" my date of joining is 2012 however it also states my "Statutory date of joining" as 1990.
On the Financial Status Reference it says I "have been employed by "Company C" since 1990".
If I'm applying for store credit what do I say when they ask how long I've worked for my present employer?

I'm not an expert but I believe your TUPE rights should continue your service from 1990 - present
May be best to get this post moved onto the Employment forum though
