I'm always leaving my laptop lead in the wrong place, it would be really great to have a back up or two.
I had a look on eBay, but I'm not sure about the end. It's a blue tipped circle.
It's a HP elitebook 840 G3
I can find them on Amazon for about £22 - Is that the cheapest?

Depends if its genuine or a cheap chinese knockoff.
Guessing you mean power lead. The blue tipped circle power plug come in various sizes. 2mm, 2.1mm, 2.5mm and 3mm being common as well as may other sizes.
If the specs state it fits your model then you should be OK. If its generic then you need to check the pin size.
Double and treble check its a genuine item not a cheapy chinese copy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Thank you but I'm still none the wiser. How do I find out the size?0 -
HPs have a habit of checking to see if you have the correct PSU connected
For example I have both Dell and HP laptops. PSUs for both are the same voltage, current and plug. Dell won't charge with the HP PSU but one of the two HPs (the older) one will charge from a Dell PSU, the other one ignores it.
The same applies to the multi adaptors. The only ones that I have found to work are those that have specific interchangable plugs for the make because they provide the feedback that the laptop is looking for0 -
I would also check the output voltage is the same as your current one - you don't want to fry your laptop !0

You are all way over my head.
