Mbna ppi

Hi guys

MBNA mis-sold PPI to me on a credit card I had a few years ago. I put in a claim but yesterday they sent me a letter to say they wrote to my old address in 2013 to make an offer and as I didn't reply, they have closed the file.

Has anything similar happened to anyone? I've written back to them today to say I think it's unfair and for them to rethink!

If they wrote to the address they had on file for you then they would be invoking the time bar as it'll be 3 years since the letter. If you have moved and they didn't have your address it's a bit different (depends if you closed the card then moved house or moved house and didn't tell them, THEN closed the card).

Probably be one for the FOS to rule on as to whether they look at the complaint or not.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • No they didn't. I hadn't used the card for a long time.

Tell the company that, see what they say. If they still refuse then try the FOS. You can understand why they are saying it as they obviously didn't know you moved so used last address on file

  • Yes I've written a "nice" letter to them but doubt it will work. Will follow it up with the Ombudsman anyway. Thanks for your advice!
