All these 40 comps need the titles editing to the correct end date format for indexing for end-date compers - as they are they are either at the start or end of the list when forum sorted to end date and many compers may miss out as they won't be seen.Firstly - this is nothing to do with adding extra info (as in previous posts that caused trouble on the forums) this is the basics that make the forum run smoothly and allow the correct indexing of all the posts on the forum
Maybe a BG could also PM each member and instruct them the correct posting format for the forums and explain why it is so important. To all members old & new - the correct date format is
E: DD/MM (note the space after the : and before the date)
DD is the date / MM is the month
(both the date & month must be 2 digits each for correct forum indexing)

There was a bit of a hoo ha on the chat board for a few days recently, and I think all or some of it may have been removed by now, so you may not have seen it.
However, one of the outcomes was that compers preferred comps to be listed as opposed to not listed even if the listing wasn't done quite right. That was the message I felt I received at the end of it all anyway, which is why (possibly) you have listed such a lot of comps that perhaps don't meet exacting standards of required listing policies.
Hope this helps explain the current sit rep somewhat.0 -
post and share!!! i do not care if there is a bloody comma missing or whatever if everyone gets a chance to enter something cool!0

I agree! At least this comps have been shared on the board whether they have been posted correctly or not!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
Actually I'm with the op here, the previous threads were about the extra bits like Rc having TW added. This is about the basics on posting. The title format is what makes it work for some people in terms of entering competitions. Mess with that you mess with the sort function on anything but last post thing.
I would have pm the op myself or the bg rather than start a thread but I think it needs doing.
It's not about sharing the competitions, that has already been done by then being posted, it's about the format working to keep the board running smoothly for all.
No names but if you are so big on sharing how is it your entry on some competitions is before they get posted on here by somebody else?Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -

A handful of the 1,000 plus users and it was about detail lacking in the title not the title being "wrong"0 -
As set out in the comping guide, (this should be put back as a sticky):-Put the date at the beginning of the title box, & please use the Forum standard, below.
E: XX/XX, For Example, E: 02/04 Win a .....
This makes things a lot easier for the BGs & Compers (like you) to find comps ending. If the comp ends within 12 months then it is fine to put the dd/mm date as explained above. If you have a rare comp that has more than a year to the end date, please stick to the posting convention above, put a space & put the year in brackets - but only if it is MORE THAN 12 months ahead.
E: 02/04 (2018) Win....... Only if comp is more than 12 months from ending.
If you can’t see the closing date for a comp in the T & C or on the webpage please estimate an end date. Without an end date on the thread title it will be moved into the Game Over sub forum prematurely, which would be a waste of your effort posting it. If you had to estimate the end date pop that into your post so if, later on, the website add an end date another member can highlight the new info. [END QUOTE]
OK so there are no "rules" but there are some basic "requirements" that make the site run better.0 -
everytime opinions are shared why does the playground behaviour have to start up again??
"no names" etc
please stop.
lets agree that if we can post things correctly then great however i would much rather the comps be shared and new members not feel intimidated to post! the more the merrier!0 -
I agree with everybody
Yes - we would rather have comps posted with the incorrect date format than not posted at all.
Yes - Inexperienced users (who may not know better) AND experienced ones (who suffer the occasional typo) should not be intimidated or criticised for their mistakes.
Yes - EVERYONE should have a chance to enter the comps, and for end-date compers this means the date NEEDS to be in the correct format so they can find the comps whilst they are open.
There are several ways to get the date changed to the correct format.
1) Send a PM to the OP - be polite - you are helping them, not having a go at them. If the OP is inexperienced tell them how to edit a title and explain why it matters. (OP's who receive a PM should also realise the sender is helping, not criticising)
2) Post in the thread asking for the date to be edited (might not work if the OP is an infrequent visitor)
3) Those BG's who comp might independently see the mis-formatted date and correct it as they pass by.
4) If the previous options fail, or are likely to fail, then send a PM to a BG asking for an edit.0 -
I tend to agree with above on this, this isn't really related to the furore last week ... I think last week it was asking above and beyond what a poster should be "obliged" or inclined to post, whereas this is more about getting the date in the correct format which I do think should be "enforced" as much as possible.
I'm not sure I would have made this post, however ... this is more a job the members would generally do in regards to replying to the post and asking for the title to be changed ...

I'm not saying that people should post comps and not follow any sort of rules. I agree that comps should be posted in the required format which keeps the boards running smoothly, ie:
E:29/x02 Win a Smoothie Maker (Twitter)
All I am saying is that rules such as stating whether a rafflecopter giveaway requires an entrant to comment/tweet/follow/share on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/G+/You Tube/Pinterest etc etc or adding the t&c or the detailed description on the prize etc should be not be 'compulsory' and the op should not be contacted or reported if they miss this extra detail out.
Yes, some ops will be happy to add the addition info to their posts, but not everyone has the time to do this. Referring back to the drama last weekend, (Text removed by MSE Forum Team), was reported for not putting in the extra info even though she always posted using the correct format. (ie E:01/03 Win a Smoothie Maker (Raff) She even helped out by linking her posts to the blog daily thread and she added 'daily' to her post title, if it was a daily. So she actually did more than others who post blog competitions on the main board.
So yes - have the basic posting rules and yes, pm the op if they have missed out the end date or not used the required format, E: 01/03. But I say no to pming or reporting ops who post using the correct format but have not included added extras such as T&Cs etc, which every comper is capable of looking up themselves.
Happy comping!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0
