Misspelt licence plate PCN

Hi
I parked in a private car pack which took photos of my car on the way in and on the way out. I stayed for approx 6 hours but had bought a ticket for 10hours so there's no way i overstayed. I didn't keep the ticket as i didn't think i would need it.
The PCN was received by post saying there's no payment received for my reg. I presume i must have entered my license plate incorrectly. I appealed already asking if they could check at that time as there must be a reg that has not been matched to any other car and that is similar to mine.
They have responded now saying that no payment was made to my reg so the PCN is valid. I have been given a POPLA number to dispute with, but if i do the fine will go up to £100.
Do you think i should just pay it? or should i contest it with POPLA and risk it going up to £100? Bearing in mind i have admitted i am the driver already and i don't have proff of a ticket.
Thanks for your help.

You need to read through the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the separate parking fines forum (link at the top of this forum), and start a thread there if you need further advice

Always make use of the popla code.

Construct your appeal (see the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum for advice) and put it up here for comments.

Edit your post to remove all references to who was driving. Never reveal the driver!

    No we don't.
or should i contest it with POPLA and risk it going up to £100?
Why do you see it as a risk? We win almost every POPLA case and even if you lose, you don't have to PAY!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Pay them if you think that they are being reasonable in wanting £100 because you entered an "O" instead of an "0".

If you think that they are being unreasonable fight them, and cost them money.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
