Ikea delivery man...

Hi all. Purchased some large items instore from local Ikea yesterday. Paid for delivery. Delivered this afternoon. One of the parts of an item, (specifically a sliding wardrobe door), was dropped by one of the delivery men, which damaged the door quite badly. He rang Ikea, reported the event and informed me that a replacement door would arrive sometime on Sunday. Whilst I was a little upset about all this I accepted his word. What I would like to ask fellow mse members if they have any experience of this happening and if Ikea did indeed send a replacement. Thanks in anticipation.

Not quite the same, but I've had pieces missing inside the box after having home delivery and although I spent a good hour on the phone, they are very good and sent out the missing parts very quickly.

    You wont have a problem.

    They are great
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • We had some kitchen units delivered, but one pair of doors "got left at the depot"
They too about 3 weeks to arrive, by which time we had all the units assembled and installed and the work tops on.
Lucky it wasn't something more structural so we could get on with the job.

I had the opposite and the guy decided it was my job to keep a broken mirror on my drive until I could dig out my receipt and call the store. He refused to take it back and I refused to accept it so it did sit on my drive! It was surreal as Ikea are usually great. I am losing confidence in the in-store delivery team to do as they say.

If you are unsure, call the number on the receipt as they definitely do what they say. :)

  • My mate works for IKEA.

It was his birthday last week and I promised to get him a Birthday Cake for his party.

He wasn't impressed when I turned up with a box containing flour, eggs, sugar, butter and a whisk, plus a recipe leaflet.

Reminds me of the time, when we visited a McDonalds drive-thru for an extended-family meal, brought the food home and discovered they had missed one meal which was clearly on the receipt. Phoned up to complain and they delivered the missing food by taxi! I'm not normally a McDonalds fan, but that customer service impressed me.

Ikea are usually good at sorting problems.

One thing to remember, which I didnt know until I bought something and had forgotten to take my Family Card, with me. It gives an insurance on what you've bought, which not only covers breaking it on the way home, even if you manage to assemble it wrong and damage it, apparently it covers this as well!

Plus a free tea or coffee during the week, for card holders.

But why its a 'FAMILY' card and you have to pay for juices or the rubbish soft drinks, I'll never understand!!

  • Thank you to all who have taken the time to reply. I shall wait until Sunday afternoon and if the replacement door has not been received I will contact Ikea.
