trying to get car insurance

Ive heard the whole just spend an hour and save yourself hundreds of pounds,
well ive been online now all day and the cheapest I can get is £270 for my car insurance, have never paid over £200 and the only that has changed is my car is a year older so worth less, ive even had a couple of p laces saying they cant give me quotes.
Does anyone know if something has happened in the world of car insurance ?
