House Buying - Advice Needed (Help to Buy, First Time Buyers, Stuck in a Chain!)

Hi guys,

In short - myself and my husband put our house up for sale in August 2016 and agreed with Persimmon to provisionally reserve the plot we wanted. They would fund the estate agent fees.

On 30th October, Persimmon sold the plot we had provisionally reserved, and on 31st October 2016, informed us that someone had put an offer in for our property (that's another story entirely...) Anyway, on 1 November 2016 we accepted the offer, and on 7 November 2016 had an offer accepted on a property we wanted to purchase.

It is now 2 February 2017 and still no movement for a completion date (contracts have been exchanged and signed etc). I am informed that our buyer (who are first time buyers) are pulling out on Friday 3 February 2017 if there is no completion date provided. The people we are buying from are awaiting a redemption figure from Target Services as they used the Help to Buy Scheme when purchasing the property in 2012.

Basically, in short...

Is there any way Target Services are going to get back to our sellers in time for us to set a completion date? Am I away with the fairies still desperately hoping this will all go through? Is 13 weeks really that bad to wait for a move? (our buyers have advised it has taken too long).

Thanks,
A very frustrated and desperate stuck-in-the-middle home owner! :(
Quite frankly, I'm not sure why Alice left Wonderland...

How are your buyers expecting to pull out if contracts have been exchanged?

Sorry, when I say 'pull out' I mean retract their offer, so we would lose them as buyers. It's odd that we've not even exchanged yet, but our solicitor advised this is normal?!

This makes no difference to Cakeguts' question.

I don't see the relevance of Persimmon in this .

That was just the background regarding Persimmon...

We've not exchanged yet, we're awaiting dates. Our solicitor does not want to exchange until we know the situation with regards to Target.

I am confused as you said in your OP that contracts have been exchanged and signed? If they have surely they can't pull out without penalties?
:jFinally going to be a homeowner:T
