Money Moral Dilemma: How should I use my theatre vouchers?

Take her to see whatever you want to see for your birthday, and then buy her some vouchers for her vouchers so she can go and see what she wants to see. Simple!
Or, you know, you could talk to her.I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks...A friend kindly bought me vouchers to use on a pair of theatre tickets for my birthday, to go with her. I know there's a particular play she really wants to see. However I've seen it and hated it - should I just suck it up and take her?

She bought you the tickets, they are your tickets to choose with. If you don't like the thing your friend wants to see, choose something else you both want to see, if she knows you well enough she will know you have chosen something just to keep her happy and wont feel OK with that.
Its your choice, if she wants to see the thing you don't want to see, maybe she should have gifted someone else the tickets. Honesty is usually the best policy, friends normally always find out the truth in the end. Your friend will be mature enough to take the disappointment on the chin and see something else.0 -
A friend wouldn't expect you to go to something you had already seen and didn't enjoy. Just find something you both want to see.
And enjoy it together!0 -
Can you not go to another play using the vouchers? It was your birthday, so she shouldn't be upset that you want the theatre trip to be an enjoyable experience.0
